Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without joy".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A legal directive placed a restriction on the files to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
Following the tragedy, public figures shared different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive statements that were widely condemned by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and suggested they revealed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser could have acted when the decision to comment on the death was made.
